Desktop is black after LumaSpace crashed

If LumaSpace crashed and left you with a black desktop, don't worry — it's easy to fix.

Quick recovery

  1. Reopen LumaSpace — it auto-restores your wallpaper from saved state.
  2. If the desktop is still black, right-click the desktop > Change Wallpaper to set a temporary static wallpaper.
  3. Once LumaSpace is running again, apply your wallpaper from Library or Home.

If crashes keep happening

  • Clear cache in Settings.
  • Make sure macOS is up to date.
  • Try reinstalling LumaSpace from the App Store.
