Clear cache and free up storage

LumaSpace downloads wallpaper files to your Mac so they play smoothly. Over time, this can use noticeable storage.

Clear the cache

  1. Open LumaSpace.
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. You'll see how much space LumaSpace is using (e.g., "256 MB").
  4. Click Clear Cache.

What happens after clearing?

Your wallpapers aren't deleted — they're still available in the app. But the next time you apply one, LumaSpace will need to re-download it (takes a few seconds).

Your uploaded wallpapers (in the Library) are stored separately and aren't affected by clearing the cache.

Tip: LumaSpace has a built-in storage limit of about 500 MB for cached files. It automatically removes old files when space is needed, so you don't have to clear it manually very often.
