Layer particles over a still image

LumaSpace lets you create layered scenes by combining a still image background with animated particle effects on top.

How to create a layered scene

  1. Open LumaSpace and go to the Library tab.
  2. Click the + button to add a new wallpaper.
  3. Select a still image (JPG, PNG, or HEIC) from your Mac.
  4. After importing, look for the Particles or Effects option in the editor.
  5. Choose a particle effect — things like snow, rain, fireflies, dust motes, or floating lights.
  6. Adjust the intensity, speed, and direction of the particles to your liking.
  7. Click Save, then Apply to set it as your wallpaper.

Tips for great results

  • Use high-resolution images (at least 1920x1080) for the best look.
  • Dark or moody photos work especially well with glowing particle effects like fireflies or stars.
  • Subtle particle effects tend to look more natural than maxing out the intensity.
  • You can change the particle effect anytime without re-importing the image.

Note: The particle layer feature is available with LumaSpace Pro.
