Layer particles over a still image
LumaSpace lets you create layered scenes by combining a still image background with animated particle effects on top.
How to create a layered scene
- Open LumaSpace and go to the Library tab.
- Click the + button to add a new wallpaper.
- Select a still image (JPG, PNG, or HEIC) from your Mac.
- After importing, look for the Particles or Effects option in the editor.
- Choose a particle effect — things like snow, rain, fireflies, dust motes, or floating lights.
- Adjust the intensity, speed, and direction of the particles to your liking.
- Click Save, then Apply to set it as your wallpaper.

Tips for great results
- Use high-resolution images (at least 1920x1080) for the best look.
- Dark or moody photos work especially well with glowing particle effects like fireflies or stars.
- Subtle particle effects tend to look more natural than maxing out the intensity.
- You can change the particle effect anytime without re-importing the image.
Note: The particle layer feature is available with LumaSpace Pro.
