Privacy and data
We take your privacy seriously. Here's what LumaSpace does and doesn't collect.
What LumaSpace collects
- Anonymous usage data — aggregate wallpaper view and download counts, tied only to a random anonymous ID, to power popularity rankings. LumaSpace uses no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and does not record how often you open the app or which features you use.
- No account — anonymous sign-in — LumaSpace signs you in with a randomly generated ID. We never collect your name, email address, or a password. We store only your favourites and Pro subscription status, tied to that anonymous ID, so they sync across your Macs.
What LumaSpace does NOT collect
- We don't track your browsing or activity outside of LumaSpace.
- We don't sell your data to anyone.
- We don't collect information about other apps on your Mac.
- We never collect your name, email, or password — sign-in is anonymous.
- We use no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Segment, or Amplitude).
- We never store your precise location; the Weather widget handles location on-device via Apple WeatherKit.
Wallpapers you import are stored in your own private iCloud (CloudKit) — on your device and your iCloud account, never uploaded to our servers or CDN. We never receive a copy.
Widgets and on-device data
Some widgets read data on your device: the Weather widget and automatic day/night schedule use your approximate location via Apple WeatherKit (sent only to Apple, never to us); the Calendar widget reads your events via EventKit, entirely on-device; and the Now Playing widget reads the current track’s title and artist and sends only those to Apple’s iTunes Search API (and Spotify’s public oEmbed for Spotify tracks) to fetch album artwork. Other widgets fetch public live data directly from their source (for example CoinGecko for crypto prices, or any RSS feed you choose), which sees your IP address like any web request but receives no personal data.
You can delete everything at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account. This removes your server-side profile, favourites, and view/download records, completing within 30 days. Wallpapers you imported live in your own iCloud, so you remove those from the app or from iCloud.
For full details, read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service from the Settings tab inside the app.
